Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig September 21 1983) is an American actress, best known for her roles in the roles of Shannon Rutherford on the ABC television series Lost and Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. Originally from Worthington Ohio, she dropped out of high school to move in Los Angeles with her mother after her parents divorce. The actress landed her first part in the film, Rachel's Room's title character, in 2001, despite having a difficult time with finances. She went on to earn a Young Artist Award nomination in 2002 for her performance as fifteen-year-old victim Martha Moxley in the television film Murder in Greenwich. Grace Rutherford was the main actress on Lost for its first two seasons. In 2004, she won the Screen Actors Guild Award with all the cast. Grace left the television series in 2005 to pursue the role of a greater part in movies, and had a role alongside Tom Welling as Kim Mills in the film Taken. She starred on the screen in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club in both 2007 as well as Taken (2008) alongside Liam Neeson. She reprised her role for Taken 2 (2011) and Taken 3 (2013).She also played Alice in Malice in Wonderland, a modern version to Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace returned to the Lost series for the last two episodes as Shannon. The year was 2013, and she was a guest in the sixth series of Californication. The actress plays Faith a groupie and her muse to the stars that catches the attention of Hank Moody played by David Duchovny. As a part of the Gyllenhaal family, she is the daughter and elder sister of the actor Jake Gyllenhaal. When she was in her teens she appeared in small roles in the films of her father and was co-starring with her sister in Donnie Darko which is a cult classic. Later, she was on Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (both 2002) and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal was nominated for an Golden Globe Award in both the action drama Sherrybaby (2005) and the romance comedy Secretary (2002). Both films were critically acclaimed. The Dark Knight, which was released in 2008 after several highly successful films including World Trade Center (2006) which brought her greater recognition, was a huge success for Gyllenhaal. The year 2009 was the time she was recognized for the award of Best Supporting Actress at the Academy Awards for her role of a single mom on screen in Crazy Heart. After that she continued to appear in comedy films as well as dramas such Nanny McPhee And The Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) and Will Not Back Down (12). Her other characters include as a secret agent for the Secret Service in White House Down 2013 as well as a vocalist in Frank 2014, and the role of a teacher in The Kindergarten Teacher 2018, where she is the main character. In 2021 Gyllenhaal has made her scriptwriting and directing debut in the psychological drama The Lost Daughter for which she received an award at the Venice International Film Festival's Best Screenplay Award and was nominated to win the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
