Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri is an Indian actress who achieved recognition for her performance in Hum Aapke Hain Koun and Beta Saajan. She first began her career as an actress in the late 1980s. Her fame was boosted by the movie Tezaab with the veteran actor Anil Kooor. The next time she appeared on the screen was in Dil with Aamir. The daughter of a middle class family in Mumbai she started learning dance from a very young age. While still a teenager she attempted acting, but the majority of her early movies were unsuccessful. Eventually, she found success in Indian cinema and rose to the top. The actress took a hiatus from her career due to her marriage, before going back to the entertainment industry. In the last few years, Dixit was a key player in Gulaab Gang a movie about the struggle of Indian women. Dixit received 8 Filmfare Awards out of the 15 she was up for nominations. Padma Shri is the fourth most prestigious civilian award in India. Her reputation also includes for her social activism.
